After a day of recording my original songs at his home studio in Rockford IL, Jason shared this charming little tune with me. He sang for me his melody idea, we scribbled down the lyrics, and -voila- "I Hate Mono" was born.
This was my first experience with learning someone else's melody, lyrics, and tracking vocals all in the same day. Needless to say: A whirlwind of adrenaline and creativity, and I was hooked.
Jason, a prodigy of a filmmaker, later featured a clip in this Estée Lauder video:

well I hate that it is not that easy
and I hate that it is not that hard for you
and I hate that when we parted it happened in a storm
I hate that when we started, our love, it was so warm to grow cold
backstage and I'm balling all my eyes are soot after your last call
rich once how I"m poor in love
your hearts last beat was a second off of mine
and baby you loved me freely but you came and left at a cost
